The tooth is out!
Inspired by Jason Lee we had a blast tonight trying out some of his ideas. They boys were very willing models and excellent actors. We had so much fun that we are definitely going to try this out again.
I got some colorful wigs and fun sunglasses at a party shop in Reykjavik. The boys were very eager to try on the props and to pose for some pictures.
Dressed up
Also children like dressing up and going out for dinner. And posing for the camera.
Photoshoot for Skema
Programmers of the future
This young boy was eager to pose for an extra shot of him after a corporate group shot.
This young girl needed a portrait for publishing porposes.

Kids & Toys
It helps to have some props, sometimes toys, to play with and create a fun atmosphere during a photoshoot. This was too good to cut the dinosaur out.
Serious
This girl is not a fan of the camera but when you catch her then she makes a wonderful photo model. I felt BW suited her facial expression.
Posing on rail tracks
Most of my children portrait shots are in studio and therefore I quite enjoy getting out and finding a good background - railway tracks are excellent background material.
I asked the boy to walk towards me to have a more relaxed pose. I really like this background and will definitely go there again for another photoshoot.

Bond, Mr. James Bond
I ordered from a friend in the USA a collection of paper props for photo booths. There was no doubt in my mind that these props would come to good use. Here with two boys playing James Bond!
Playing Mean
When kids have some props to play with they slip even easier into role playing. In this case we tried to get a real mean look but you can still see the smile on his face ;-) I processed this picture black & white and high-key to bring out the facial expression and the eyes.
PAD 15 - 50mm Smile
I love my new 50mm lens. It enables me to take pictures without any flash and still get very well lit pictures. At the same time with f1.2 I am able to get focus on a limited area and blur the rest. Here is one nice portraiture example. This picture was taken at the dinner table with very little light and black cardboard as background as not to get reflections of any lights in the background.
Growing up
My oldest niece is growing up so fast that I am amazed every time I photograph her. Soon I cannot put her picture in the Children folder anymore. And she becomes more beautiful by the day too!
This picture looks cold since the boys are wearing hats and the mountains in the background have snow but this picture is from a warm July day in Northeast Iceland - you still need to wear a sweater most of them time and sometimes hats too when there is a cold breeze from the Atlantic Ocean.
Proud horse boy
In Iceland it is common to send kids to courses in the summer and one of the popular courses is horse riding on Icelandic horses. The Icelandic horsees are very friendly and a bit smaller than European horses and therefore ideal for kids.

Long weekend together which they were all looking forward to. There was a lot of laughing but also some crying. In the end nobody wanted to go home… and everybody is best friends :-)

Skaters
My stepsons were doing stunts with their kick-boards and skate-boards and I asked to come into my studio and do some portraits. And of course they said yes, they are so used to being my models.
